Personal Philosophy:
Everything happens for a reason. It is not our job to ask, why did this happen to me?, but to ask, what am I supposed to learn from this?...there is a reason that horse manure grows strong healthy plants...the crap in your life will make you strong too...if you let it.
About Jean:
Jean grew up in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. She is the fourth born in a family of nine children; 6 boys and 3 girls. As a child she spent much of her time climbing trees and roller-skating. Growing up in a family that gave preferential treatment to the boys, she felt driven to compete with her brothers. She started working full time at the age of 16 and continued to work 60+ hours a week through high school. Education was not a priority in her family, thus in 1985, while most of her friends were getting ready for college, Jean joined the Army Reserves. She earned top scores in physical training, qualified as a sharp shooter and was the distinguished honor graduate of her advanced individual training class at Ft. Dix, New Jersey. She proudly served her country for 13 years, her last and longest assignment being a combat military policewoman.

During this time she also worked her way through college as a single mother to her 6 month old son. After graduating from Harper College, she attended Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, Illinois. She was a member of Psi Chi, the honors fraternity in psychology, and Sigma Lambda Sigma, a service sorority. She also served as a volunteer advocate for victims of sexual crimes at Sexual Assault and Abuse Services. When she first moved to Dekalb she was unable to find work and out of desperation applied for public aid. She was able to get off public aid in 4 months after finding a job 45 miles away from home.

After receiving her B.A. in Psychology, she entered the field of community mental health in which she remained for 10 years. Her work with adults, children and families added to her accumulated experience, employed by companies such as Northwest Mental Health Center as a transitional living counselor and job coach, and Camelot as a residential counselor and teacher in a therapeutic day school. She worked in an advocacy program for families where she taught parenting skills training. She worked at Kenneth Young Center leading an intensive 13 hour a week workshop program working with adults going through transitions after experiencing severe traumas; traumas involving stress after a car accident, job termination and emotional distress due to relationship issues. She currently trains and supervises mentors part-time who work with at risk children and adolescents.

She attended Roosevelt University.s Master.s program in Clinical Psychology and worked with Dr. James Choca, PhD, on the development of the Emotional Assessment System, an innovative modern approach to computerizing personality profile testing. She became a certified hypnotherapist after studying at The Liedecker Institute; the only Illinois State certified school for hypnotherapy. She attended the International Coaching Academy and is a member of National Guild of Hypnotists, The International Association of Medical and Therapeutic Specialists, The International Coach Federation and The International Association of Coaches. She co-founded The Lighthouse Consulting Services of Illinois, Inc., and provides personal development services to a wide variety of clients as well as conducts seminars with her husband, Ray Kadkhodaian.
